1. Turn the paper into a PDF
Your iPhone has a document scanner built in. It finds the page edges and flattens the page, which faxes far better than a plain photo.
- Files app: open Files, tap the ••• button, choose Scan Documents, scan each page, then Save. It saves a PDF you can pick in the next step.
- Notes app: in a note, tap the attachment or camera button and choose Scan Documents. Then share the scan and Save to Files.
Already have the document as a PDF in Mail or Files? Skip this step.
2. Send it
- Open sendfaxwell.com/send in Safari.
- Type the fax number, then tap Choose a PDF or a photo and pick the scan.
- Check the preview, then pay with Apple Pay.
- Keep the page open to watch it send, or close it: it carries on without you.
On the web, page credits come in packs of 50 for $3.99 or 200 for $11.99, about 6 to 8¢ a page. Each card payment has a fixed fee, so the smallest web pack is 50 page credits; the Faxwell iPhone app (coming soon) will sell 10 for $0.99. Credits you don’t use stay in your account and last as long as you fax once a year.
Tips for a clean fax
- Scan on a dark, plain surface in good light. Faxes are black and white, so faint pencil and colored highlighting may not show.
- Send one PDF with all the pages, in order.
- Need to sign it? Sign the paper before you scan, or use Markup in Files to add your signature to the PDF.
The Faxwell iPhone app
The app is coming soon to the App Store. It adds a scanner, signing and blacking out text, sending from any app’s share menu, and your own fax number for receiving.
