How to send a fax from your computer

Updated November 3, 2026

Save the document as a PDF (on a Mac: File › Print › Save as PDF; on Windows: Print › Microsoft Print to PDF). Then open sendfaxwell.com/send, add the fax number and the PDF, and pay.

1. Make a PDF

2. Send it from your browser

  1. Open sendfaxwell.com/send.
  2. Type the fax number and choose the PDF.
  3. Check the preview, then pay with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  4. The page shows when it’s dialing, sending and delivered.

On the web, page credits come in packs of 50 for $3.99 or 200 for $11.99, about 6 to 8¢ a page. Each card payment has a fixed fee, so the smallest web pack is 50 page credits; the Faxwell iPhone app (coming soon) will sell 10 for $0.99. Credits you don’t use stay in your account and last as long as you fax once a year.

Do I need a fax modem or fax software?

No. Older computers could fax through a dial-up modem and a landline, but online fax services do the dialing for you. Your computer only needs a browser.

Questions

Can I fax from my computer without a phone line?

Yes. Save the document as a PDF and send it from sendfaxwell.com/send. Faxwell connects to the phone network for you.

Can I fax a Word document?

Save or export it as a PDF first, then send the PDF. That way the recipient gets exactly what you see.

Is there fax software I need to install?

No. Everything happens in the browser.
