Sending one fax
What a 3-page fax costs if you don’t want a subscription.
| Service | A 3-page fax | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Faxwell | 30¢ in page credits | The smallest web pack is 50 page credits for $4.99; the rest stay in your account. A small “Sent with Faxwell” line on the cover page |
| FaxZero | Free, or $3.29 without branding | Free faxes: 3 pages plus a cover page with FaxZero branding, 5 a day |
| Dropbox Fax | Free for your first 5 pages, then $0.99 a fax | $0.99 covers up to 10 pages; 20¢ a page after that |
| Fax.Plus | Free for your first 10 pages, then 60¢ | 20¢ a page after the free pages |
| WiseFax | $3.00 | $1 a page |
| eFax, RingCentral, SRFax, Documo | Subscription only |
If you fax now and then, Faxwell’s page credits last as long as you fax once a year, so one $4.99 pack covers about a dozen 4-page faxes. Send a fax.
Where Faxwell isn’t the cheapest
- One short fax, once. FaxZero’s free fax or Dropbox Fax’s free pages cost nothing out of pocket. Faxwell’s iPhone app (coming soon) will sell 10 page credits for $0.99.
- A fax number alone. WiseFax ($8.00 a month) and Fax.Plus Basic ($8.99) cost a little less than Faxwell’s Keep a number ($9.99), and Dropbox Fax Home Office includes more pages for the same price.
- Healthcare with a BAA today. SRFax Healthcare Lite is $12.60 a month with a BAA on request. Faxwell has a “Don’t keep my faxes” setting that keeps no copies, and a BAA only on request: ask us.
- Other countries. Faxwell sends to the US and Canada only, for now.
Watch for weekly app subscriptions
Many fax apps start with a “free” fax, then bill weekly: the most downloaded one on the App Store charges $9.99 a week, about $43 a month. If you fax a few times a year, pay per page instead. See how to fax without a subscription.
